What personal accomplishment are you most proud of?
The accomplishment(s) to date that I am most proud of are that I have been able to take over my family’s business operations, as well as expand my knowledge to create businesses of my own. A goal I have is for each new business I create to be a different type of endeavor than the last. Currently I own and operate businesses in 6 different industries.
What is your primary personal development goal/business goal for the next 5 years?
To continue to expand my business operations and take advantage of any opportunity where I see potential. I strive to sustain the kind of businesses myself, my family, and my community can be proud of and plan on to keep that going as long as I can. To continue to expand my business operations and take advantage of any opportunity where I see potential. I strive to sustain the kind of businesses myself, my family, and my community can be proud of and plan on to keep that going as long as I can. In 2017 I have plans to jump into the downtown business area, which is something I have wanted to do for last 10 years.
What is your biggest philanthropic achievement?
Following my father's footsteps to serve the community in various board leadership roles, volunteering, and continuing our family mission to assist and serve our Laramie community. Also sustaining our yearly partnerships with United Way, Cowboy Joe Club, the Laramie High School and many others.
What action/event that you've been a part of, that you believe has made the biggest difference in Laramie?Or are you most proud of?
I am proud of several events that I was able to have a part in arranging for the greater good of Laramie. Being a member of the Albany County Public Library Foundation (ACPLF) Board of Directors has allowed me to help with organizing a new yearly fundraiser for the benefit of the Public Library. Also I was privileged to be a part of The Laramie Economic Development (LCBA) initiative to develop and open the Cirrus Sky Technology Park, and in revamping the marketing plan for Albany County and Laramie with the Albany County Tourism Board.
What excites you most about the future of Laramie?
With great responsibility and care, there is a lot I see in the future for Laramie. There is great potential in what can be created and developed here--small and large! I feel proud to live in a community of such great people who are committed towards making our town an even better, safer, and more prosperous place every day for all of us.
What do you think has helped make you successful in your endeavors?
The thing I feel that has worked for me in my career is keeping my head down and to always continuing to push forward. Owning a small business as many people can attest is not easy. Obstacles appear in every stage of a business. My job as a leader for my businesses is to always keep the business on track and moving forward. When you’re the business owner you get the good but also everything bad. For me, I can’t dwell on either; every day brings new challenges and new opportunities. If I stop to dwell on my failures and success or get complacent with my businesses; then things fall off the track. I have no boss; I don’t have someone pushing me to be better, work harder or dictating what I need to do every day. What I do have is a motivation within myself to encompass a high standard for myself and my businesses.
What advice would you give to other young professionals in Laramie?
It’s hard to give advice without having a cliché or two in there. But clichés can be spot on, Go Big or Go Home, Never Stop Pushing…those are just a couple that go through my head on every business deal and most every day. They are just words after all, but it’s accepting what they mean to you and what that equals out in real work. People can say a lot of things; they can have mantras they say daily but it means nothing unless there is true hard work and effort behind it. If you want something, you truly need to go after it with everything you have. Coming through on your word and showing up every day will always lead to success. #Hardwork
