Meg Thompson Studios
What personal accomplishment are you most proud of?
Learning how to become a working artist and balance studio work with income work. Creating a career in the arts that I love even though I did not come from an arts background.
What is your primary personal development goal/business goal for the next 5 years?
Create a strong public art program in Laramie that engages the community, delivers inspiring projects and gives local artists opportunities for creative projects and professional growth.
What is your biggest philanthropic achievement?
The Wyoming Art Party is a grassroots artist group (myself, June Glasson and Adrienne Vetter). We spend a lot of volunteer time organizing creative community events and workshops in which everyone is welcome and has opportunities to be creative.
What action or event that you've been a part of, that you believe has made the biggest difference in Laramie? Or are you most proud of?
Helping create and implement the Laramie Public Plan and the Laramie Public Art Coalition. Also I am proud of the work we have done through Wyoming Art Party.
What excites you most about the future of Laramie?
The potential to become one of the most creative cities for our size.
What do you think has helped make you successful in your endeavors?
I am eternally grateful for the kindness of people who have helped me along the way. And no matter how difficult things get, I always have a little voice in my head that says "Just keep going." But above all, I can do what I do because of the love an encouragement of my best friend and wife, Emily.
What advice would you give to other young professionals in Laramie?
Just keep going. And Volunteer on projects you are passionate about- it helps you meet other people and work on satisfying projects. We really have an opportunity in Laramie to create a community we want to live in. By all pitching in and staying true to our visions, little by little, together we are making this town more enjoyable for everyone.
