What personal accomplishment are you most proud of?

I am most proud of my family and children. I had my kids when I was very young and I went to college while working full time and when my 2 oldest children were still very young and have had a fair share of adversity, but have overcome and excelled at work and have an amazing family, My oldest is now a freshman in college, my daughter will be lettering in academics at Laramie High in January and my youngest is a happy healthy 3rd grader!

What is your primary personal development goal/business goal for the next 5 years?

My primary personal development goal is to finish my BS degree and graduate from UW. I recently made the decision to go back to school and have been enjoying classes and learning so much! I think that this personal development will enable me to set strong business goals and continue growing in my administrative position.

What is your biggest philanthropic achievement?

My biggest philanthropic achievement most recently has been volunteering with Donate life Wyoming and Children's Hospital in Denver; after my youngest son had a medical condition when he was born, these two causes became very dear to me. Over the summer, I was so happy to be accepted into the Leadership Laramie class of 2018 and through this, I have been able to see so many available opportunities to give back locally to our community and look forward to going to more rotary events and attending LYP meeting regularly and helping with these group events.

What action or event that you’ve been a part of do you believe has made the biggest difference in Laramie? Or, which action or event are you most proud of?

I have been on the committee for the Laramie health fair for the last two years and am proud of and very much enjoy getting to help put together an event that the public can attend to learn more about better living and all of the amazing resources for healthier living that Laramie has to offer our community members.

What excites you most about the future of Laramie?

Through Leadership Laramie I have had the amazing opportunity to learn so much about Laramie's history and also about Laramie's future. I am most excited about the growth Laramie is seeing in many different industries all helping to make our community grow and thrive. I am especially excited about the DDA plans to make our downtown area more walkable and safe for pedestrians. It was very interesting to meet with people from the main street alliance and hear about their hopes and plans for our downtown!

What do you think has helped make you successful in your endeavors?

I think that working with amazing people throughout my career has made me the most successful! I have tried to learn from everyone I've worked with from the time I was a young brand new EMT and dispatching at a very small police department through working in emergency services until now. I have worked with and watched many strong leaders and tried to learn what they have done to be successful and overcome adversities. I have also tried to learn from the things that have not worked for other people so that I can try not to repeat mistakes. The most important lesson I've learned to be successful is to treat everyone no matter what their position or the situation with respect.

What advice would you give to other young professionals in Laramie?

My advice would be to learn about the community and all of the resources that are out there for young professionals to help them to grow and to succeed. I would tell them to attend business after hours and meet people, joined groups like LYP and definitely apply for Leadership Laramie! I have learned so much in just a few short months that I've been in Leadership Laramie! I have met many great people and had the opportunity to listen to community leaders in Laramie speak at each session, and everyone is so willing to help and give advice.

Optional: If you have anything else you’d like to share along with the answers you've provided through this selection process feel free to add any additional statements.

I would like to Thank LYP for putting together this award and working to highlight the achievements of Laramie's young professionals!  When I first moved to Laramie and began working here I was so overwhelmed with my work position, (because it was all so new for me), and I wish that I had taken advantage of groups and resources like LYP back then! I think that meeting young people who are in professional and administrative positions that can be a source of support, advice, and friendship is such a great thing that many communities don't have.
